1x Equilibrium Barrel Aged Special Relativity Batch 3 (14%) During a Friday afternoon sensory panel several weeks ago, we tasted liquid from many barrels. One sip and we all immediately agreed that this single barrel had become the latest BASR1. Aged in a single select Weller barrel for just over 14 months and bottled absent of any of adjuncts, we aimed to show this stellar barrel off and let its unique characteristics shine. Pouring pitch black with a tan head, aromas of oaky bourbon filled chocolate truffles lead into flavors of rich bakers chocolate, freshly ground coffee, dark fruits, tobacco, brownie batter, and leather. These sensory experiences come together in an extremely viscous body with a smooth bourbon note accompanied by a complex vanilla and caramel silk like finish. This beer is the culmination of a magical base and a truly special barrel.

For the latest in our experimental coffee series, we emptied our imperial stout Rho from a Willet barrel after 12 months time and conditioned it on our very own Kinetic Energy blend developed for us by Mostra Coffee in San Diego, California.
Barrel Aged Rho Kinetic Blend pours pitch black with aromas of coming-around-the-other-side-of-the-clock espresso, bourbon bonbons, bakers chocolate, warm caramel, cherry cordials, and more bourbon char to warm your soul. The finish Is silky and luxurious with a well integrated vanilla barrel presence floating on top of barrel pillows.

After letting Rho sit undisturbed during its metamorphosis for nearly one year in a select Willet bourbon barrel we are pleased to bring you Barrel Aged Rho treated with Mostra’s Anaerobic honey processed Ethiopia Sidama.
BA Rho pours pitch black with notes of dark chocolate brownie, dried orange peel, with hints of vanilla and honey. The mouthfeel is silky and creamy with an exquisite coffee backbone and an assertive barrel presence. BA Rho integrates the components of beer, coffee, and barrel together and let’s them shine in unison.
1x Equilibrium / Mostra Project Geisha (13 % ABV )
Project Geisha is another extremely special beer to us made with our friends from @mostracoffee . We took the last remaining barrel of the base stout that eventually became Swiss Bliss and allowed it to further mature for a total time of more than 18 months to meld and develop with oak, char, and its former Buffalo Trace occupant. We added just one thing: Mostra Bambito Estate Geisha Coffee, an extremely rare coffee from Bambito Estate in Panama. Coveted for its flavor, it can only be grown at high altitudes with certain soil profiles so only a small amount is produced at each harvest. It’s known for its intense floral aroma as well as along with flavors of milk chocolate, marzipan, lychee, Meyer lemon and blackberries.
Project Geisha pours pitch black with a rich tan head. It features bright and clean notes of creamy chopped bakers chocolate, caramel, Cadbury Crème egg filled with bourbon, oak, young blackberry, and plum skin. Deep layered flavors of rich brownie, full bodied cold brew coffee, American oak integrate into a silky and luxurious mouthfeel that are balanced by bright notes of lemon, blackberry jam, and rollercoaster of flavor ends with lovely barrel heat balanced by some port-like sweetness.
