Notes from Horus: This beer spent 30 months in the most expensive wood on the planet. These beautiful barrels cost nearly $3,000 each after shipping, which is twelve to fifteen times the amount of a standard bourbon barrel these days. I love the character of the wood, it reminded me of a mild cigar dipped in coconut. The Stout took on deep woody notes, marzipan, brown sugar, milk chocolate, and samoa cookie flavors from this unique wood like Grace, but adds a nutty characteristic and a ton of vanilla. It is easily my favorite of the Amburana trio of beers, and it worked out where I saved the best for last with these beautiful barrels.
