Veritas 016 is a blended oak-aged sour and the first in the Veritas line to include white peaches.
Veritas 016 was inspired by Lost Abbey's previous draft-only blended sour, Spontaneous Cheer, and represents the 16th iteration in the series — an ongoing experiment exploring the relationship between fruit, Brettanomyces, and barrel aging.
Appearance It pours an amber color with a good off-white foamy head.
Aroma The nose offers tart notes with light oak and lightly acidic fruit, along with spicy pungent peach, charred oak, toasted sesame, and an herbal bouquet with hints of red pepper.
Taste On the palate it delivers Sour Patch–like peach, grapefruit, and orange with toasted oak — a high-octane sour with tart notes, light funky yeast, and lightly acidic peach. It's described as a "special blend with some strong flavors."
Overall Reception It scored a 94 on BeerAdvocate, and reviewers noted it aged remarkably well
