This year’s batch of Mutuality is a three-barrel blend that first aged for twenty months in a combo of Stagg Jr 8-year, Weller 7-year, and Eagle Rare 10-year bourbon barrels for 21 months, then in Apple Brandy barrels for an additional 15 months, and conditioned on Cook Island vanilla beans for the final two months of aging.
The apple brandy shines beautifully up front in this edition, which alongside the character from three fantastic bourbon barrels and this exceptionally aromatic variety of vanilla, gives the beer a delightfully complex, spirit-forward bouquet. Rich bourbon and vanilla combine with the decadent, chocolatey base beer to achieve a confectionary richness with all the components coming together into a big warm hug.
