The first in what will be series of traditional meads aged in barrels previously used for aging beer, this batch of The Turn is an Orange Blossom Mead aged in used barrels from our friends at Toppling Goliath. Taking on massive milk chocolate flavors, this batch saw the orange blossom base still at center stage. The end result is reminiscent of a chocolate covered orange wedge candy, with a clear representation of citrus fruit standing out. We filled a couple of these barrels with the same Orange Blossom base, and located them in different parts of the room that saw varying levels of temperature and humidity resulting in subtle differences in flavors and aging times.
