Double Barrel 2x4 2025 (2026 release): DB 2 X 4 caps the season. Another big run of beers that were better than the year prior.  The whole team makes the most of inches and details heightening these beers to a greater sum of their parts. It’s a masochistic sport that always requires more work to live up to our own intensities. We’re very proud of our barrel program and hope you’ve enjoyed the output.  

DB 2 x 4 has all the heft and scale, the process, and all the wonderful ingredients. It has the power to get us all to the green. Pouring it, the entire glass is a choral harmony screaming for your attention. Big barrel, coconut and coffee like two elephant seals gnarling for space on the beach. No ABV to be seen. Double Barrel 2x4 2024 (2025 release):Double barreled. 2 x the coffee. 4 x the coconut. I pulled this sample right from the tank because there was no time to spare. It’s tough to parse out the sensory cadence. A flowing creamy car crash of caramelly shredded coconut bourbon waft from the bung vanilla sunrise breakfast java molten brownie. An end to end tube of massive experience. Loony Tunes spiral eyes. It’s been a long winter, feed this to your Spring Break and welcome Summer in personal luxury.   16.1%

Double Barrel 2x4 2023 (2024 release): We end our 2023 barrel season with all tools on the table. 2 X 4 has demonstrated real thrust in the Benthic program. TIG welding a double barrel treatment atop an already massive expression irrevocably distorts palate elasticity. Blushing taste buds, you just can’t untaste it.
DB2x4 Benthic sits in a high garden of wide ranging flavors. I automatically pan to Triple Barrel Catch Hell to scale it, but this beer fans an alternate catalogue. Mother of pearl, the coconut! Cut from the trees, hand toasted and heaped lb x lb. Dense vanilla chocolate swirly, easing toward whiskey mochachino. ABV held quiet beneath piles of specialty malts, sweet steamer froth and good brewery practice. A great close to the season, and another notch up the stilts. 16.9%

Double Barrel 2022 (2023 release): 

Four different brewhouse recipes, all hoping to stack dynamic flavor, spent time in select 10-year Eagle Rare, 8-year Elijah Craig + 4-year Bardstown barrels. This year’s blend was created & then the entire vintage was sent to a split of 10-year Russell Reserve + 8-year Wild Turkey Barrels before meeting the cellar’s hand for a unique introduction of cold-steep whole-bean washed Catuai coffee from @darkmattercoffee + 400 pounds of coconut that we toast here at Half Acre. 16.6%
