1 Can of BARLEYWINE ALE AGED IN RUM BARRELS - 13.5% ABV

Cruzan Rum casks have only seen only one liquid before housing this extra sweet Straight Jacket - rum. Because the barrels are used once, and for only one year, there’s about three times as much oak available to the beer as you’d expect from even the youngest bourbon barrels. Not content with that alone for this entry to the Twenty Ten Variant Collection, we threw some supplementary oak into each barrel to assist with drying out the heady combination of extra malty barleywine and sweet rum on the palate. A pair of fire-toasted American oaks further lean into the caramel, coconut, and vanilla expressions from the barrels themselves, and give each sip a place to land.

“Built the last fourteen barrels of April’s Peach Brandy [Barrel] D.B.V.S.O.J., this version is embellished with both fire-toasted French oak, and unfermented peach & apricot. The nose is layered stone fruit, with peach coming from both barrel and fruit, flanked by malty caramel, and oaken, smoky vanilla from the medium-slow fire-toasted French lumber.”
