For this release, we have brewed a stronger, richer version of the winter porter and aged it for nearly two years in Bourbon barrels. We have also added organic cinnamon, Vermont honey, and coffee.

In honor of Edward's sister, this version of our honey Farmstead® ale-crafted from organic American malted barley, European and American hops, Geteme honey from Ethiopia, and our distinctive farmhouse yeast-aged for 10 months in our puncheons-more than Anna, not quite Ann, but enchanting all the same. Sourced from the high-altitude Gera forest in southwestern Ethiopia, Geteme honey is derived almost entirely from the Geteme tree. Bottled 2023

⁣In her honor, we mindfully blended our favorite barrels of Ann, Art, and Flora, each of which had been aged for between 16 and 27 months—guided by her lingering spirit towards a beer of elegance, grace, and patience.⁣ As our Clover often would, this beer took its own path and its own time to become what it is now: an effervescent, refined reflection of both our melancholy for her departure and, most importantly, our joy in traveling with her for a while

Clover (2005-2014) was an uncomplicated yet complex grey cat with whom we shared an all-too-brief moment and space. From time to time, guided by her ever-present spirit, we blend our favorite barrels of Ann, Art, and Flora, with the hopeful directionality of elegance, grace, and tasteful exuberance—each one a hallmark of our memory for her. Barrel-aged Chasing Darkness is an Imperial Stout aged for 27 months in Woodford Reserve Double Oaked bourbon barrels before being blended and bottled

A blend of two double barrel-aged stouts. First aged for 12 months in a Buffalo Trace Mash #1 barrel, then transferred to 9yr Willett Family Estate barrels for an additional 18 months. The beer was conditioned on four different types of vanilla - Indonesian, Madagascar, Tahitian, and Mexican. We added 2lbs directly to barrels for 3 months before conditioning it on an additional 4lbs in the brite.

Samsara is a Sanskrit word that means “wandering” as well as “world.” The term connotes “cyclic change” or, less formally, “running around in circles.” Samsara is often referred to as reincarnation, karmic cycle, Punarjanman, or “cycle of aimless drifting, wandering or mundane existence.” When related to the theory of karma, it is the cycle of death and rebirth.
